Safe & Welcoming Community

A city where everyone feels safe, supported, and at home.

Brian will work with community partners to:

✔︎ Advance coordinated responses to homelessness, addiction, and mental health with the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan and through community collaboration such as the Pembroke Community Watch Program.

✔︎ Advocate to upper levels of government for evidence-based solutions to community challenges.

✔︎ Provide a safe and welcoming community via strategic partnerships with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, the Mesa Team, and the Renfrew County and District Health Unit Drug Strategy Committee.

✔︎ Neighbourhood Meetings — give neighbourhoods a stronger voice at Pembroke City Hall with improved public engagement, by organizing walk-and-talk discussions and neighbourhood meetings, especially around budget deliberations.

Brian  Abdallah  for Mayor

✔︎ Strengthen the Property Standards By-law within the provincial framework to increase compliance.

✔︎ Advocate for a revised provincial funding model to reflect current municipal needs.

✔︎ Expand the Community Watch Program by reaching out to concerned residents to gain broader involvement throughout the city.

✔︎ Advocate and work with the medical community for enhanced primary health care services.

✔︎ Make readily available updates from the OPP, Police Services Board, and the Renfrew County District Drug Strategy Committee regarding community saftey statistics, actions, improvements, and present challanges facing our community, allowing residents to have regularly updated information.

Good local government starts by listening. I believe Council works best when decisions are made collaboratively, residents have a meaningful voice, and city hall actively brings together neighbourhoods, community organizations, businesses, and other levels of government to solve problems and move Pembroke forward.
